Repousse Cuff Bracelets, Hand Hammered, Sterling Silver, Oxidized

Sterling silver cuff bracelets made using the technique called Chasing and Repousse. Repoussé is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering, with special tools, from the back side to create a design in low relief. Chasing is the opposite technique to repoussé the two are used in conjunction to create a finished piece. It starts as a flat piece of sterling and from there I draw my design and with special repousse tools, I hammer the design from the back. then I turn the piece over and chase the design from the front. This bracelet has been oxidized which darkens the sterling silver while the design has been polished to a high luster, therefore making the design stand out. There are no molds used in this process… just my hammer, special repousse tools and my imagination!!
